ANALYSIS: A career over fences is on the cards for dual-purpose performer QUEEN ASTRID after she landed this valuable Mares’ Hurdle. She had run creditably when fifth to John Kiely’s Clara Allen in the Irish Cesarewitch and, taking the lead before the second last from long-time leader Sweet Kiln, she soon had her chasing rivals struggling. A crack at the Leopardstown November Handicap "providing the ground is yielding to soft" is next on the agenda before she goes jumping fences. "The way she stands off her hurdles, she should make a high class chaser and she’ll probably start off in a 2m4f/3m novice chase at Christmas," said trainer Dermot Weld of the former Listed winner on the Flat, successful now three-times over hurdles.

The 98-rated Time On Your Side ran a cracker in second when staying on under pressure to get the better of Brogella, who, like the winner, had contested the Cesarewitch finishing 12th.

Mount Grace is still seeking her first win over hurdles but has been knocking on the door in maiden company and, on this evidence, should be winning soon.

Useful Flat handicapper High Priestess had two wins over hurdles to her credit during the summer and she raced in mid division for most of the way without getting in a blow whileAdarma, who had not run over hurdles for a year and a half but landed four races over fences in the interim, kept on from the rear for a never nearer finish. This was her first start since May, so improvement should be forthcoming.

Barrack Buster became something of a course specialist at Kilbeggan over hurdles and on paper looked to have every chance off her 130-rating over jumps but, having raced prominently for a time, dropped away along with Sweet Kiln, who led until weakening from thethird last. She will be better for he first run back when she encounters testing underfoot conditions.
