TOTE WIN £11.30 PL £2.00, £4.20, £1.40, £4.90; Ex £735.70; CSF £71.35 ANALYSIS: Well supported in a race that contained three previous winners newcomer FARMER BROWN proved victorious here after taking up the running passing the two-furlong pole and staying on under an accomplished ride from Slippers Madden. Backed from 10-1 to 11-2 the winner kept on well to make a pleasing winning debut. Wild Ocean won narrowly at Cork last time and made nice headway to lead turning for home only to be run out of it by a game winner. Gotno Destination, third to Openide on his debut in a 12f bumper at Cheltenham last January, sneaked into contention up the inner approaching the straight but the winner had got first run which proved a telling factor at the business end. Massini's Maguire showed enough here to suggest he can improve sufficiently to play some role in a less competitive bumper while Wanango, a winner on his debut at Leopardstown last March, was struggling when the race developed rounding the home turn. Kate's Island made nice headway in the closing stages for a never nearer finish. Good To Be King was reported to have a respiratory tract infection. Nicanor (lame) was a notable absentee. |
