Gorband, dam of unbeaten Group 2 winner Harbour Watch and South African Grade 1 winner Europa Point foaled a colt by Lope de Vega yesterday evening, he is described by his breeders Tom and Geraldine Molan of Riversfield Stud as ‘outstanding’.

Misty Daylight, sold in foal to Lope de Vega realised €185,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Mixed Winter Sale in Kentucky. This sales result was no doubt helped by the positive reports on the Lope de Vega foals already on the ground.

The first reported foal by Lope de Vega, also bred by Gestut Ammerland, arrived at Haras d'Ommeel in France on 16th January when the mare Bougainvillea foaled a chesnut filly described by the stud as being 'a nice foal, with a good head and plenty of bone'. The filly is half sister to Group 3 winner Burma Gold and her dam is a winning full sister to Group 1 winner Borgia.

Lope de Vega has now left Ballylinch Stud and is in quarantine in Newmarket, UK prior to his shipping to Australia where he will stand the Southern Hemisphere season at Patinack Farm in New South Wales.

The Mare is Melatonina (King Charlemagne) a winning half sister to three black-type winners, including Gr.2 Prix Eugene Adam winner and sire Look Honey (Sadler's Wells).
